Could Kid Rock be running for senator? According to the Detroit Free Press, a Republican Party official has suggested the Michigan rocker as a possible candidate for the state’s U.S. Senate seat in the 2018 midterm elections.
The newspaper reports that Rock’s name was dropped during last weekend’s Michigan Republican Party state convention. Tea Party activist Wes Nakagiri said that Rock “has name I.D., is an out-of-the-box idea, and would kind of get rid of that stodgy Republican image.”
“I’ll bet you he would generate as much excitement as [Donald] Trump did,” Nakagiri tells the Detroit Free Press.
Rock is a supporter of President Trump, and is currently selling pro-Trump merchandise on his website. He previously supported Republican candidate Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.
