Shooting suspect killed in evening shootout with police

A shooting suspect was shot and killed after a standoff with police Thursday night.
Eighteen-year-old Henry Jackson was wanted for multiple shootings over the last two days, including a Wednesday night shooting of a young woman in the arm and a Thursday mid-day shooting of a man in the hip.
Two ATF agents who were in the area offered their assistance and located Jackson’s vehicle. Jackson fired on the agents, injuring them both in the altercation. One was treated at the scene, the other was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
At about 9:30 last night, Ardmore police located Jackson and gave chase. Jackson fired on the officers who returned fire, striking Jackson several times and ultimately leading to his death.
No Ardmore officers were injured in the shooting spree but their vehicles did sustain damage.
The Carter County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation. All officers involved in the shooting will be on administrative leave as a matter of policy until the conclusion of the investigation.
