Halestorm performs never-before-heard song written by Weezer frontman

Halestorm is a giving group, and as a “thank you” to the band’s fans for pushing them past one million “likes” on Facebook, they’ve posted a brand new video performance. The clip is a special one as Lzzy Hale reveals that the song they’re playing is called ‘Sweet Love’ and has never been heard before. Adding to its mystique is the fact that it was co-written with Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo three years ago.

The acoustic performance finds drummer Arejay Hale making use of what looks like a Styrofoam cooler for a drumkit, while he also mugs for the camera a little bit during the shoot. Meanwhile bassist Josh Smith performs in the back just so all four members can be on screen during the performance. And while the track is definitely melodic, led by Joe Hottinger’s strumming, Lzzy Hale shows the true power in her voice in the latter portion of the performance.

There’s no word on how the collaboration with Cuomo came about, but given the three-year timeline that Hale mentions at the top of the clip, it likely occurred during the creation of ‘The Strange Case Of …’ album.

Halestorm have been splitting their time this year between working on a new album and touring. The band has a pretty extensive fall tour schedule lined up.
